Our NON-GMO Garlic has been grown, harvested, cured and cleaned using organic practices right here on our 6 acre farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
NDC Farm elephant garlic is sold and packaged by weight and will look different than other varieties of garlic when it arrives. Please note that separation of the cloves from the bulb and the papery skins is completely normal and to be expected. Bulb sizes will vary. In one pound, you can expect 3-6 bulbs, ranging in size from 2.5 to 3.5 inches each.
As the name suggests, Elephant Garlic is characterized by its giant sized bulbs, which grown in ideal conditions will measure three or more inches in width and produce individual cloves exceeding 1.5 inches each! An average bulb contains 3-5 cloves.
Elephant Garlic’s easy to peal cloves add a subtle, less pungent, garlic flavor to raw, roasted, baked and grilled dishes. Its larger cloves are perfect for slicing and deep frying to make garlic chips and can also be roasted whole and used as a tasty spread.
When stored properly, Elephant Garlic can last for up to 10 months. It prefers a cool, dark spot with low humidity. Do not refrigerate.
